THE HEART OF THE STORY
- SIRA announced that it acquired the former Planned Parenthood property at 914 NW 13th Street on September 10, 2026.
- The purchase expands the pro-life nonprofit's footprint, but construction and design work remain before the new space opens.
- Planned Parenthood had already closed its Gainesville clinic; this purchase did not shut down an operating facility.
A former Planned Parenthood property in Gainesville, Florida, is set to become part of a ministry devoted to helping women choose life and supporting families. SIRA, the faith-based pregnancy center next door, has purchased the building as it prepares to expand its free services.
SIRA's October 1 announcement dates the acquisition to September 10, 2026. Mainstreet Daily News reports a $345,000 purchase price. Renovations are still ahead: the sale marks a new opportunity for the center's pro-life mission, not the opening of a finished facility or a measured count of lives saved.
A New Purpose for a Former Planned Parenthood Property
The acquired building is at 914 NW 13th Street, beside SIRA's existing location at 912. The organizations had been neighbors since 1997, according to SIRA's announcement, making the change in ownership especially meaningful for its supporters.
Executive director Kathy Gratto announced the purchase at the center's annual fundraising banquet, Mainstreet reported. Thanking supporters, she described the opportunity in explicitly Christian terms: “He’s still the God of miracles.”
The timeline matters. Local reporting places Planned Parenthood's closure in June, months before the purchase. In its earlier closure announcement, as reported by Mainstreet, Planned Parenthood directed patients to its other Florida centers and telehealth services.
Practical Help for Mothers and Families
SIRA's announcement identifies pregnancy and STI testing, ultrasounds, life-skills classes with material assistance, and post-abortion support among its services. Local reporting also describes parenting education. The organization says donations from individuals, churches, businesses and other groups allow it to serve clients without charging them.
Its own website states that it does not perform abortions or provide abortion referrals. It also says care is available regardless of age, gender, income or legal status. That is an important distinction: this is an expansion of a pro-life center, not a continuation of Planned Parenthood's full range of services.
Gratto told Mainstreet that construction and room-design decisions remain, with staff helping shape the layout. Additional space is the next step; the reporting reviewed does not establish an opening date for the acquired building.
FaithfulHeartbeat Perspective
This is a welcome development for the pro-life movement. Protecting unborn children should go hand in hand with standing beside their mothers—not only during a difficult pregnancy decision, but as they prepare for the responsibilities of raising a child. Practical assistance gives substance to that commitment.
The Christian call to love our neighbors includes both mother and child. Churches can put that conviction into action through patient friendship, material help and sustained support for families. A mother facing uncertainty deserves more than a political argument; she deserves people willing to help carry the burden.
The symbolism of this purchase is powerful, but a building is only the beginning. The deeper opportunity is what happens inside it: compassionate service, encouragement and tangible support for choosing life. That is the work worth celebrating—and sustaining long after the headline fades.
